What a scam. Parts for my pinion bearing are 100-200 dollars, any competent mechanic can take 2-3 hrs to rebuild it, and yet they wanna quote me $5100 to do the job. Really not looking out for people, just want to try and rinse you of your money.
Hi Cameron, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I’m truly sorry to hear that you felt frustrated with the estimate we provided. After reviewing your case, I want to clarify that the quote you received was for a full remanufactured rear axle assembly with differential, not just the pinion bearing replacement, which you mentioned. We recommended this comprehensive solution because we found metal debris in your differential fluid and noted the extremely high mileage on your vehicle's existing differential assembly. Our goal is to ensure that your vehicle remains safe and reliable for as long as possible. If we only replaced the pinion bearing, the lifespan of that new part could be significantly reduced, given the current condition of your differential. As for the time it would take to replace only the pinion bearing, Chilton labor guide time for pinion bearing replacement on your vehicle is 3.8 hours. This tells me that any competent mechanic would take almost four hours to complete the job. We appreciate your concerns regarding costs and I can assure you that we are always looking out for the best interests of our customers. We aim to provide transparency and value, and I apologize for any miscommunication that led to your misconceptions. If you have further questions or if there’s anything else we can do to assist you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We truly value your business and want to ensure that you have a positive experience with us.
